Love Beyond Valentine’s Day

Hey there,

Valentine’s Day is today!

In Malaysia, we are not encourage to celebrate this especially if you are Muslim. For non Muslim, its up to them to celebrate it or not. I personally don't celebrate this but I do received chocolate on Valentine's day before and of course love it! That's long time ago, when I'm on my early 20s.

Today,  I read one Facebook post 👇🏻

This post make me laugh so hard and ada betulnya haha, kasi chance for young people to celebrate it.

Now, I'm on my 30s I don't really like this kind of stuff, I more like periuk belanga, pinggan mangkuk, message "done transfer" from my husband and good news related to my family, that's it!

But honestly, I’ve never been big on celebrating it. Still, I believe love deserves to be celebrated—not just today, but every day. And love isn’t just about couples; it’s in so many little moments and people around us.

Here’s how you can choose to celebrate love in your own way:

1. Loving Yourself First

Self-love isn’t selfish—it’s essential. Learning to take care of yourself even in simple ways. Maybe it’s a slow morning with your favorite coffee/tea or just sitting with your thoughts and journaling.

Loving yourself also means resting when you're tired and speaking kindly to yourself (because, let’s be real, we’re often our own worst critics).

2. Showing Up for Your People

Love is in the relationships that make life richer—family, friends, and those who are always there. A quick call, a heartfelt “thank you,” or just spending time together means more than fancy gifts.

Life gets busy, but I never want to be too busy to remind my loved ones how much they mean to me.

3. Spreading Kindness, Even to Strangers

One of my favorite ways to celebrate love is through kindness. A smile, a small donation, or helping someone without expecting anything back—that’s love in action. The world can feel heavy sometimes, but even a little kindness can make a difference.

Just like today, I gave a way to 2 cars on the road and they give me highlight to say thank you, I feel really good.

4. Connecting Through Faith

For me, love is also about gratitude and faith. Whether it’s through prayer, reflection, or simply thanking God for the people and moments in my life, I believe love flows from a grateful heart.

5. Cherishing the Everyday Moments with My Family

With my husband and child, love isn’t always grand or picture-perfect. It’s in the little things—sharing a meal, laughing over something silly, or just being together. These small, everyday moments are the ones that truly fill my heart.

So, What’s Love to Me?

It’s more than a holiday or a grand gesture. It’s found in quiet mornings, kind words, warm hugs, and grateful hearts. Valentine’s Day or not, I choose to celebrate love every day—in all its beautiful forms.

How about you? How do you celebrate love beyond Valentine’s Day?

Share your thoughts—I’d love to hear!

With love,

Aya 🫶🏻
