Last week, we had a simple yet meaningful family outing at Museum Bank Negara Malaysia and the best part? It was absolutely free!
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this museum isn’t just about money, it’s about history, art, culture, and education, all wrapped in one beautifully designed space. We didn’t have a budget for an expensive trip, but we wanted to spend quality time together, and this outing turned out to be one of our favorites.
What We Loved:
1. The Children’s Gallery
Our child had the best time at the Children’s Gallery! It’s colorful, interactive, and packed with activities that explain financial concepts in fun, kid-friendly ways. It was amazing to see learning and play come together so naturally.
2. The Numismatics Gallery
Who knew old coins and currencies could be so fascinating? We enjoyed seeing money from different eras and countries—some dating back hundreds of years. It made us realize how much history is hidden in something we use every day.
3. Art and Architecture
The museum itself is a work of art. The clean, modern layout made it easy to explore, and we appreciated how the exhibitions are arranged in a way that’s easy to follow. Plus, there’s a beautiful Art Gallery featuring Malaysian and Southeast Asian artists—truly a hidden gem!
4. A Quiet Break from the City Noise
KL can be loud and busy, but inside the museum, everything felt calm. It was the perfect escape. We took our time exploring, asking questions, and even just sitting down together to reflect on what we learned.
✨ Best Part? It’s Free!
Admission is free, making it a great option for families looking to enjoy a budget- friendly yet enriching outing. There’s also a café inside if you’d like a small treat after exploring.
Opening Hours
The museum and its museum shop are open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The last admission is at 4:30 pm.
It’s closed on Mondays and during the first three days of Hari Raya Aidilfitri
